ALEX YATES
Hi, I’m Alex.
Based in Squamish, BC, I spend most of my time exploring the backroads, mountains, forests, and hidden places that make the Pacific Northwest feel wild. Originally from Ontario, I made my way out west 5 years ago and quickly fell in love with the mountains, the lifestyle, and the endless opportunities for adventure and creativity that British Columbia has to offer.
Whether it’s camping deep in the backwoods, chasing new trails in the 4x4, or slowing down to catch the perfect light through the trees, photography has become my way of documenting the experiences, landscapes, and moments that deserve to be remembered.
Most of my adventures are shared with my girlfriend, and our dog, as we travel through remote places, search for new viewpoints, and experience everything this beautiful province has to offer. I’m drawn to raw landscapes, quiet moments, animals in their natural habitats, rugged terrain, and the freedom that comes from getting off the beaten path.
Living in Squamish has also opened the door to sports photography, allowing me to capture the energy and passion of the outdoor community that makes this place so unique. From mountain biking and hiking to the fast-paced moments that happen in the outdoors, I’ve found another side of photography that continues to push me creatively and inspire the way I tell stories through my work.
Through my photography, I want to share those experiences with others and inspire people to explore more, travel deeper, and appreciate the beauty that exists outside their comfort zone. From mountain mornings and muddy trails to sunsets at camp and places most people never get to see, I’m living the life I’ve always dreamt of.
I currently offer prints of my work so people can bring a piece of those adventures and landscapes into their own space. If you’d like to work together or collaborate, let’s connect.
